On Thursday, June 14th, we had the pleasure of attending The Foundation for Douglas County School’s Reach for the Stars event at Cherokee Ranch and Castle. It was an “out of this world” experience as we made a contribution to a Digital StarLab, a state-of-the-art immersive planetarium. The planetarium will travel from school to school, impacting thousands of curious minds across the district each year. We are so happy to be part of this valuable resource for the next generation of students!
As some of you may know, school equipment ages and wears down. And, sadly, in December 2017, the district had to retire the previous portable planetarium due to unrepairable electrical problems. This previous planetarium brought joy and wonder to students for more than sixteen years! We hope this new planetarium can last even longer and inspire future astronomers.
Our history with Douglas County Schools goes back many years. Each year, we have been supporting the Apple Awards which honors district teachers who are making an impact in the lives of their students. We provide each nominated teacher a 5 x 7 portrait and a free family session. Due to this ongoing involvement, we were invited to participate in the Reach for the Star event.
If you would like to be a part of helping shape the future for students, we encourage you to support The Foundation for Douglas County Schools. You can donate and help provide school supplies, send classes to the Career Expo or even help fund grants.
